Every Dink now gets a full SEO inspection
By Mitch Flindell · 11 October 2026
Short version: before a Dink reaches you, Dinkum now builds your site with the change, runs 159 SEO checks on every page it touched and compares the result with your live site. If the change would add a problem, Dinkum fixes it first. If it can't, the Dink isn't sent.
Why we built it
A change that wins a ranking can quietly lose one somewhere else: a title that's now too long for Google, a canonical pointing at the wrong page, FAQ markup that no longer matches the page. Nothing looks broken, so these slip through, and you only find out weeks later in Search Console.
What gets checked
| Area | What's checked |
|---|---|
| Crawling and indexing | Status codes, redirect chains and loops, noindex in any form, canonicals, robots.txt (matched the way Google reads it), sitemaps, HTTPS and hreflang |
| Titles and snippets | Title length measured in pixels the way Google cuts it, missing or duplicate titles and descriptions, headings |
| Structured data | JSON-LD, microdata and RDFa parsed and checked against Google's rich result requirements, with FAQ answers matched to the visible page |
| What Google sees | The page rendered in Chrome and compared with the raw HTML, so content or links that only appear after JavaScript runs are caught |
| Phones and page experience | Google's Lighthouse on the rendered page: image sizes, layout shift, tap targets and font sizes |
| Links | Broken links, links to redirects, empty link text and nofollow on your own links |
The list comes from three places: the issues a site-audit tool reports, Google's Lighthouse, and Google Search Central's documentation. We left 30 more out on purpose, mostly because nobody can measure them reliably from outside your site.
What happens when a check fails
- Problems the Dink introduced go straight back for one fix, with the list of what's wrong.
- If one is still there after that, the Dink stops. You never see it.
- Problems already on your live site never block a Dink. They're listed in the pull request so you know about them.
- Every pull request now has an SEO checks section: "All checks pass on the 3 changed pages", or what's left, in plain words.
Your whole site, every morning
The same inspection now runs across your whole site each morning, before Dinkum plans its work. Your dashboard shows an SEO health score and its trend, Google's own verdict on which pages are indexed (straight from Search Console), and the easy wins ranked by how much they matter for ranking. The top few ride along as small fixes with each morning's Dink, and you can send any of the others to the next run with one click.
Dirk has also made his feelings about broken links very clear.
