Dinkum Get 5 free Dinks

Privacy policy

Short version: we collect what you type into our forms, a little about your visit, and, if you become a client, the access you give us to your site and its data. We use it to do the work and reply to you. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. Email mitch@flindev.com to see, fix or delete what we hold about you.

Who we are

Dinkum (dinkumdaily.com) is run by Flindev Pty Ltd in Australia. We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. If anything here is unclear, email mitch@flindev.com.

What we collect, and why

When you ask for your free Dinks

The form asks for your email address and your website. With them we keep the country your request came from and your browser's name, which help us spot spam. We save your request in our database on Cloudflare, add you as a contact in Boundry (our email service) and email it to ourselves, so we can prepare your review and reply. Your network address is used only to limit how many requests one connection can send, and isn't stored with your request.

When you use the free content brief generator

We send your search, the market you pick and any page address you add to DataForSEO to fetch the results we count. The search and its results are kept for 7 days so a repeat search is free, without anything about who ran it. To limit each visitor to 20 new searches a day, we store a one-way code made from your network address and the date, never the address itself. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person before a search runs.

When you visit

We count visits with Stickybeak, which sets one first-party cookie to recognise a returning visitor and one for the current session, on our own domain. It tells us which pages people read and where they came from. It isn't shared with advertisers. Our host, Cloudflare, also keeps standard server logs for security.

When you're a client

To do the work you give us access to your site's repository on GitHub, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, and where you choose, your analytics, sales data and a Slack channel. We use that access only to make, check and measure changes to your site, and you can withdraw any of it at any time. Our notes about your site, the changes we make and their results are kept so we can judge each change at 14 and 28 days and report to you.

Who helps us

We use these services to run Dinkum. Some store or process information outside Australia, mostly in the United States. We choose providers that protect it to a standard at least as good as the Australian Privacy Principles.

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, the forms' database and our screenshots, and runs Turnstile.
  • Boundry stores contacts and sends our email.
  • Stickybeak counts visits.
  • DataForSEO supplies search results, keyword data and AI answer data.
  • Anthropic and Google provide the AI models that write, review and check changes. We send them what a change needs (your site's code and public pages, search data), not your customers' details.
  • GitHub, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and Slack, for clients, through the access you give us.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent personal information.
  • We don't use it for advertising, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
  • We don't email you newsletters unless you ask for them.

How long we keep it

Free-Dinks requests are kept while we're talking with you and for up to two years after, then deleted. Client records are kept while you're a client and for seven years after for tax and legal reasons, except anything you ask us to delete that we aren't required to keep. Content brief searches are kept for 7 days. Visit statistics are kept as totals.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Email mitch@flindev.com and we'll reply within 30 days. You can block cookies in your browser and the site still works. If you're not happy with how we handled a privacy complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms and pricing.
